Built to hunt big game and later to hunt the wolves of Ireland.

Facts

  1. Developed in the 15th century.

  2. By the late 1700s the wolves of Ireland had been hunted out, and the dogs nearly disappeared with the job.

  3. Height 32 inches minimum (male), 30 inches minimum (female). Weight 120 pounds (male), 105 pounds (female).
