The job

Built to drive cattle up to high mountain pastures for the summer and bring them back to the valley for winter.

Facts

  1. On the path, the dog's herding job was to keep the cows together while crossing rocky, uneven Alpine ground.

  2. Height 17.5-20.5 inches (male), 16.5-19.5 inches (female). Weight 50-65 pounds (male), 40-55 pounds (female).
