The job

Built to retrieve waterfowl from the cold, rough waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

Facts

  1. Owners of duck clubs on both shores of the bay set the breed's basic type in the 19th century.

  2. The Chesapeake Bay holds a third of the migratory waterfowl that winter in the East.

  3. Height 23-26 inches (male), 21-24 inches (female). Weight 65-80 pounds (male), 55-70 pounds (female).
